Rodolfo Viola was born in Milano on August 8th 1937. His painting follows the trends of non-representational art of those years, and he defines the aesthetic along with philosophical implications of his research in the Manifesto Universalista which he co-authors with Franco Zeffirelli, Peter Maag, Carlo Mauro and Giuseppe Marotta. His works have been exhibited in many art galleries in Italy, and around the world as well as in public and private collections. The Republic of San Marino dedicated Viola a series of stamps (in which he appeared as the only living artist among Botticelli, Guercino, and Tintoretto); his seascapes have become the symbol of the Americas Cup.
